Long-Pulsed 1064nm Nd:Yag Laser and Long-Pulsed 755nm  Alexandrite Laser

Long-pulsed 1064nm Nd:YAG and 755nm Alexandrite lasers are used for various dermatological and cosmetic treatments, including hair removal, and for targeting pigmented and vascular lesions. The 755nm Alexandrite laser is more effective for lighter skin types and darker pigment due to its strong absorption by melanin, while the 1064nm Nd:YAG laser penetrates deeper, making it safer for darker skin tones and better for vascular treatments. 

755nm Alexandrite Laser

• Primary Use:Targets darker pigment in the epidermis, making it highly effective for hair removal, especially in patients with lighter skin tones (Fitzpatrick skin types I-III).
• Other Applications:Can be used for pigmented lesions, melasma, and gentle skin toning.
• Considerations:Has a higher risk of epidermal damage, such as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, in darker skin tones. 

1064nm Nd:YAG Laser 

• Primary Use:Targets deeper structures, making it safer for all skin types, particularly darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick skin types IV-VI).
• Other Applications:Effective for treating vascular lesions like spider veins and broken capillaries, as well as for skin rejuvenation and wrinkle reduction.
• Considerations:Can be less effective for hair removal on very fine or light-colored hair compared to Alexandrite. 

Combined Systems

• Some devices combine both wavelengths, allowing practitioners to customize settings for a wider range of treatments and skin types.
• Benefits:Offers versatility to treat both pigmented and vascular issues on a broader spectrum of patients.
